A trombone-shaped Italian heirloom that is really two vegetables in one. Picked young and green it is a superior, dense-fleshed summer squash that never goes to seed in the middle. Left on the vine to ripen tan, it cures into a keeper with the sweet, nutty flavor of a winter squash.
